Movies
The movies were very useful when practicing for the exams. They do not take too long to watch either, so keep making them.

My EDM 310 Blog Assignments are Now Complete
I was dreading taking this class because I am not proficient with computers but I found myself able to perform some tasks my son said were "cool." My favorite projects were: the PowerPoint presentation, creating & posting blogs [I was so proud of myself when I did this], the trifold brochure and the Fischbowl links. My least favorites are the website project and the spreadsheets.
I thank my classmates especially Rachelle and Virginia for their help and encouragement to an older student. Overall, I have become more knowledgeable in my everyday interaction with computers and I can now use technology with more confidence than I had done before. Thanks Dr. Strange for your hardwork and enthusiasm for the world of computers and everything digital! YINKI

Reliability of Wikipedia
Personally, I believe Wikipedia is not a reliable source of information because anyone can manipulate entries to Wiki so this is suspect since companies/individuals can manipulate/switch their entries from the truth to nefarious to amusing and possibly downright dangerous depending on your view!
When a company/website prides itself on being "the free encyclopedia anyone can edit" - it is buyer beware and we have all been put on notice that no one is "really" checking the entries. So what's the fuss about? Use Wiki possibly for something other than authentic research!

Growth vs. Fixed Minds
This mind is not growing right now! Stayed home to work on this Itunes stuff this weekend and it has been such a pain, nothing is working. I might take the high road and work on this on Campus maybe I will have some luck with it.
ITunes
I was looking forward to this assignment and I tried many ways but found it impossible to do anything without loading Itunes on our computer.

Customer Service - (May 2007)
I enjoyed the Customer Service Video and my favorite portion was "the microsoft funny call." Maybe teachers need to conduct a poll among students after each quarter, since they are afterall providing a service to students. Are students happy with the service(s) being rendered by educators?
It is time to stop providing mediocre service to students and the season has arrived for "total student care." "Would students recommend their teachers/professors/administrators/schools to their families/friends looking for excellent care customer service/education?"

Teachers and Technology
I do agree that it is important for teachers to at least have a basic knowledge of technology in today's world. On a lighter note, I enjoyed Karl Fisch's postings and the responses he received. In order to move educators forward, we should push our politicians (and now is the perfect time to do this) for necessary educational reform, better salaries for teachers and (sorry) then we can think of getting rid of teachers who do no want to advance.
Frankly like my aged parents, I was apprehensive of all the developements at first but I discovered the entire world was about to run off to compudom and leave yours truly behind! So here I am incing a little forward each day, learning something new everyday and riding the waves of technological advancements with a smile on my face! To quote my friend: "teachers did not land on computer planet, computers and the internet landed on older teachers."

Blogs In First Grade

Mrs. Cassidy and her 25 first grade students in Moose Jaw, Canada use blogs: for posting assignments, for teacher entries/activities, for inviting the world into her classroom to help them learn, as a forum for students to write about themselves thus promoting writing skills, to showcase pictures of students at school or at home with their family and she encourages parents to write to her class through the "yackpack." This creative bunch can be found at:
Blogs In Classrooms

Mrs. Boyd and her 23 students at Nelson Central in New Zealand use blogs: for developing writing skills, for introducing technology to young children, to encourage children to read when other students post their blogs, and for establishing a forum where students can express their views in a learning environment. The students at Room 9 can be seen at:

ACCESS
ACCESS provides students with opportunities to participate in advanced courses, certified teachers and current technology through web-based, videoconferencing and blended distance learning methods. This program allows teachers to provide and share instruction with two or more geographically remote areas, assisting students who would have otherwise been without instruction.
ACCESS is a state funded program that has been acknowledged as a pilot program of the classrooms of the future. Students especially in rural areas will be able to take the same classes as their peers.

All About Me!
I decided to return to school two years ago to pursue a degree in Education. I am married with children and I value spending time with my family. In my spare time (who has free time these days!) I enjoy travelling, cooking and reading. Although I love fast cars, most times you will find me in the slow lane!

Searching ALEX!
This website was created to aid teachers in the education of children. There are various web links organized by categories so that teachers are able to assess necessary resources for their classrooms. I also found links to educator resources for enhancing professional growth in the career of teachers and administrators. The graphics are clearly labeled to ensure quick access to information. The links to lesson plans were easy to identify and grouped in a logical order. ALEX was honored with a Best of the Web 2007 Honorable Mention Award. ALEX will be one of my regular websites when I begin to teach.

Did you know movie
I enjoyed the movie. Who thought of all these stuff? Interesting but pertinent information about our world. It might help everyone begin to take a little more notice plus travel more.

ALEX In My Classroom
When I begin to teach, I intend to use ALEX in my classroom for assignments. ALEX contains a wide array of valuable lesson plans that may be used for this purpose to being some variety and fun into our regular workload. I found two interesting Language Arts assignments where students will be able to choose between creating digital stories in cooperative groups using multimedia tools or studying the myths of nature and creating a graphic representation of these myths. I plan to use this website with my future students in the morning hours, because the site slows to a crawl by midday and may slow down our lecture.
